This week Foreground, Midground, and background elements were presented. I took A 3D "mockup" made in Unreal and transformed it into a 2D painting.
Composition
I went with the circular composition for this project. I really do like photos of mountain ranges and the artist Eyvind Earle had some good references.
2D light
I used an object in real life for my 2D light project. I thought the little toy I had of the character Fatgum was perfect due to his round features and easy posture. I broke down the light sources of the picture and painted different values in order to best replicate the lighting setup.
Silhouettes + Thumbnails with Link!
Link is always a fun character, but his complexity in his armor design was a pain. Link had been slightly designed then redesigned again over the years, but I have always liked his newest look from Breath of the Wild.
Creatures Project- with Shapes!
The shape project was a very fun and easy way to develop 2D characters based off of shape language.
The three different shapes that we had to represent were circle, square, and triangle, and I just drew the first creature that came to my mind when I thought of said shape, not wanting to overthink such a project.
